Being great friends with Ginny Weasley, he still harbors some feelings of affection for the red-head. He would never act on it, of course, because she is Harry's girl. It makes it difficult to find a girl who can compare to her. He is not alone; he is with different people all day. But he is finding himself becoming lonely.

He is still a virgin.
Children - have any? want any?: none, but yes, Neville wants children
Backstory/History - aka, where they have been between DH and Ascendant, and beyond:
Neville Longbottom stayed at Hogwarts, at his grandmother's insist, and did everything he could that last year to cause problems for the Dark Lord. He continued the Dumbledore's Army meetings and practices, and strategised with Ginny to cause as much mischief and mayhem that they could. He found his Gryffindor core by challenging Voldemort, even in the face of Harry's seeming death. Suffering torture, he still managed to pull the sword out of the sorting hat, and chop off the head of the snake. He never gave up supporting Harry's efforts while he was at school, and would gladly do what he could to protect him again.
Neville has devoted himself to the repair of the school. He has worked with Professor Mcgonagall to rebuild the destroyed greenhouses, and worked with Madame Sprout to help re-grow and re-establish many of the plants needed for school instruction. Seeing a need to supply these items to others in the community, Neville approached The Apothecary shop in Diagon Alley, and convinced them to expand, creating an annex that specialized in fresh herbs, supplies and food. Neville wanted to provide the Wizarding community with more quality ingredients for potions making and other needs. Neville convince willing pure-blood families to turn part of their estates into farming land, to help supply the Wizarding community's needs: to replenish the herbs and plants needed for the necessary potions that are in demand for the sick and injured from the battle. He travels quite a bit, visiting the various estates to assist the growers, to deliver supplies to St. Mungo's while running the small annex in the morning for the Apothecary. Neville is very interested in becoming a professor at Hogwarts some day, and pops in on Professor Sprout frequently, to lend a hand. When he is not focused on his work, he spends time with friends and his Grandmother.
Neville has a modest flat in London, close to Diagon Alley. He still has his toad, Trevor, and an owl for making deliveries. He has a greenhouse in his flat that allows him to continue to tinker in his own smaller garden.

9. Character history. Include their activity during the war.
Neville was born July 30. 1980 and a year later lost his parents to an attack by Bellatrix Lestrange and the two Lestrange brothers. Neville was raised by his Gran, Augustus Longbottom, and his grandfather, Sherman Longbottom. Sherman Longbottom is Frank Longbottom's father. Sherman was the brother of Harfang Longbottom. One brother married Callidora Black, while the other married Augusta. It was not a marriage of love at first. As with many pure-blood marriages, it was an arranged marriage but an amicable one. Sherman had enough quiet determination to rein Augusta’s controlling nature. At the birth of their son, Frank, things shifted slightly, as the family was very proud of the new heir to the Longbottom lineage. Augusta, being a controlling woman, never tired at trying to make suggestion, strong directions and basically run her son’s life. These attempts were thwarted repeatedly by Neville's grandfather, Sherman. This was the environment where Neville grew up, witness to his grandparents' debating and bickering, with his Grandfather Sherman running interference to Neville's grandmother's constant picking. His grandfather died when Neville was seven in a tragic accident. While out hiking on their property with Neville, his Grandfather Sherman suffered a severe heart attack. Unable to perform even the simplest magic, Neville had to watch his grandfather die and then seek help, alone in the late evening. His grandmother and her family were quite disappointed in him. His other relatives, Great Uncle Algie and Great Auntie Enid were his grandmother's sister and brother, and the two woman had a very dim view of Neville's potential. Only his Great Uncle Algie seemed to be encouraged by Neville's talents, and gifted him Trevor, his toad, as Neville's first demonstration of magic (this after Great Uncle Algie tried to literally 'shock' the magical skills into the boy by dropping him on his head, which was not successful!) With this shadow of family doubt looming over him, Neville received his letter to attend Hogwarts, and boarded the train for school.
Neville became friendly with the other members of his house; he was the bunt of many jokes in the Gryffindor house. He also seemed to have the worst luck when it came to being ineffective with spell casting. He jinxed himself, hexed himself and fumbled at Transfigurations. It was his third year that he found some confidence in his skills, and asked Ginny to the Yule Ball. Although having a rocky time of it the first few years, the last years of school gave Neville a chance to mature and improve his magical talents. He joined Dumbledore's Army and after much effort, became successful at disarming and casting defensive spells, including successfully producing a patronus. He became very adapt at defensive spells. When Harry, Ron and Hermione did not return to school for their seventh year, Neville helped re-instate the Army's practices and continue their efforts to fight against the overwhelming influence of Voldemort's presence in the school. He was caught, with Ginny, trying to steal the Gryffindor sword, and was thoroughly punished for his defiance. His relief at seeing Harry, Ron and Hermione alive in the Room of Requirement was great, and he followed Harry's instructions to kill the snake that Voldemort protected. He suffered to complete the task, but then later worked with Ron Weasley to capture Fernir Greyback, at the end of the battle.
10. What has your character been doing in the two years since the end of Deathly Hallows?

11. Important relationships (friends, lovers, enemies):
Neville is closer to his father's mother, his Gran, than he has been his entire life. She is proud of him, and his fear of her has left him; after facing Voldemort, anything is less fearful. Neville is friends with Luna Lovegood, Dean Thomas, Seamus Finnigan, Harry Potter, Ron Weasely and Hermione Granger. He is close friends with Ginny Weasley.
12. How does your character view the events of Deathly Hallows?

14. Please give us an in-character, third person writing sample (minimum 200 words). Include dialogue.
Neville had told his grandmother he would meet her as soon as the shop closed. The annex shop hours were from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm but he had already been hard at work since the crack of dawn. He had visited the Hitchens estates before the shop opened to collect the fresh daisy parts that had been harvested and sorted. He had also dropped by to speak with Professor Sprout about an odd fungus he had noticed on some dittany he was growing from seedlings at his apartment. Her advice had been to spray it with a vinegar mix, and he eager to see the effects. He had the fresh herb supplies ground and bundled, ready to send by owl to St. Mungo's Master Healer, to be used for potions creations. But it would wait until after lunch; he was looking forward to meeting with his Gran. He could hear clients in the Apothecary next door, shuffling about and murmuring to themselves. They would wander in through the open doorway and be surprised at the assortment of fresher ingredients provided by the small Annex. He was already noticing a large growth in the clientele. He put away his inventory lists, grabbed his "Got-to-do" book, and sealed the accounts for the day in the small counter's drawer with a locking spell. He moved to the open door way, and caught the owner's eye.
"I'm off. I'll see you in the morning."
The owner grunted, nodded and waved as he turned to help the next customer. Frank turned and cast the shielding spell, that displayed the Annex's hours on it in clear bright print, "Longbottom's Apothecary Annex: Fresh is Best."
He left through the main door, and almost bumped into his Gran, "Oh! Gran! Sorry about that!"
He was embarrassed at being so clumsy about her; it took him back to his childhood in a snap. But her reaction was not as it had been in the past, and he didn't realize he had been holding his breath, waiting for her to reprimand him for his mistake.
"Neville, dear! You gave me a start! Are you finished, already? I thought I was early. I guess the time just goes by much too fast these days. Your Great Uncle Algie says I'm just turning into an absent-minded feather head of an old lady who should take up gardening and knitting! Poppy cock I say to him! What a dunderhead he's been, calling me old! He's two years my senior, that brother of mine. But never you mind, Neville dear. Where shall we go? It's been ages since I've been down to the Alley. It definitely has improved in appearance."
Neville put his arm around his Gran in a hug, "I think I know just the place," he said as he led her down the Alley, away from the Apothecary store.
